The basics

What is Bayarsama?

Bayarsama is a bill-splitting app for iOS. Add what each person ordered, and the app calculates everyone's share — including service charges, taxes, and discounts — across 13 currencies. Then share the breakdown via WhatsApp or PDF.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no email required. Open the app and start splitting.

Do my friends need to install Bayarsama too?

No. Only the person organising the bill needs the app. Everyone else just receives the breakdown as a WhatsApp message or PDF — they read it like any normal text or document. No download or sign-up required on their end.

Is Bayarsama free?

Yes. The core bill-splitting features are free forever. Bayarsama Pro is an optional upgrade for people who want unlimited friends and groups, full order history, receipt attachments, and clean PDF exports without watermarks.

What does Bayarsama Pro include?

Pro unlocks unlimited friends and Bayar Kaki groups, full order history access, receipt image attachments, and clean PDF exports without the watermark. You can subscribe quarterly, yearly (with a 1-week free trial), or buy a one-time lifetime unlock. Current pricing is shown inside the App Store.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. On your iPhone, go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions, tap Bayarsama, then choose to manage or cancel. You will keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period.

How do I request a refund?

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refund requests must go through Apple directly. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and select the purchase you would like refunded.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Sign in to your new iPhone with the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase, install Bayarsama, and tap Restore Purchases on the Pro screen. Your Pro unlock will be reactivated automatically.

Which currencies are supported?

Bayarsama supports 13 currencies: MYR (Malaysian Ringgit), SGD (Singapore Dollar), USD (US Dollar), IDR (Indonesian Rupiah), THB (Thai Baht), PHP (Philippine Peso), VND (Vietnamese Dong), GBP (British Pound), EUR (Euro), JPY (Japanese Yen), KRW (Korean Won), AUD (Australian Dollar), and INR (Indian Rupee). More are coming.

Does it work outside Malaysia?

Yes. Bayarsama works in any of the 13 supported currencies, with localised payment fields and QR support — DuitNow (MY), PayNow (SG), PromptPay (TH), QRIS (ID), VietQR (VN), UPI (IN), IBAN (EU), Sort Code + Account (UK), and bank transfer fields for the rest.

Can I customise tax and service charge percentages?

Yes. Each currency comes with sensible defaults (for example, 6% SST and 10% service charge in MYR), but you can adjust the tax and service charge percentages per order, or remove them entirely. Discounts are also applied per item.

Splitting, sharing, and saved orders

How do I share a bill split with my friends?

From the order summary, tap Share. Choose WhatsApp text (a clean message with each person's share and your payment details) or PDF (a professional A4 layout including your QR code or bank details). The share sheet also supports Telegram, iMessage, email, and AirDrop.

Can I edit a past order?

Yes. Open History, tap the order you want to change, and edit any item, person, or charge. Re-share the updated split when you are done. This is useful for fixing mistakes or reusing a recurring split.

What's a Bayar Kaki group?

"Bayar Kaki" is local slang for your regular bill-splitting buddies. A Bayar Kaki group is a saved set of friends — your mamak crew, your travel gang, your housemates — that you can load into a new order with one tap, instead of typing names every time. Free includes up to 3 groups; Pro is unlimited.

Privacy & data

What's stored and where

Where is my data stored?

All your personal data — orders, friend lists, Bayar Kaki groups, payment profiles, and receipt photos — is stored locally on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I delete my data?

Because everything is stored on your device, deleting the Bayarsama app permanently removes all your data. There is no cloud account or server-side data to clean up.

Why does the app ask for camera or photo library access?

Camera is used to photograph physical receipts and attach them to your saved orders.

Photo library is used to save and load QR codes for payment methods like DuitNow and PayNow.

Both permissions are optional — you can deny them and still use Bayarsama fully.

Devices, bugs, and ideas

Is there an Android version?

Bayarsama is only available on iOS for now. Our current focus is improving the experience for existing users. If you'd like an Android version, email [email protected] — once we see enough requests, we'll prioritise building it.

I found a bug — how do I report it?

Email [email protected] with a description of the issue, what you expected to happen, and your iPhone model and iOS version. Screenshots are always helpful.

I have a feature request — how do I send it?

We read every email. Send your idea to [email protected] with a short description of what you'd like and why it would help. Frequently requested features get prioritised in our roadmap.
